All About Louise Stebbing

I have been printmaking for over 30 years. My images capture local landscapes and places I have visited. A wide variety of linocuts, etchings, screenprints and acrylic paintings will be exhibited.

"I was enticed back to the Fens in 1993 after 14 years away at college & work. In 1993 I converted a barn into my studio. Overlooking the rural Fenland landscape has been a great source of inspiration for my work. I have been mesmerised by printmaking techniques since attending Art Foundation Course at Cambridge. I use a variety of techniques but recently have concentrated on linocuts. I draw inspiration from my environment and try to capture the essence of a place for example the dramatic fen skies and simple but intense landscapes. My images usually start with a sketch and I like the print to evolve as I create it - not working out too much detail in advance, but using my 30 years of experience to let the image develop in the direction it happens to take me at that particular time. I gained a BA(hons) degree at Sheffield University before going on to complete a Postgraduate course in Printmaking at Camberwell School of Art in London. I am a qualified teacher with several years experience teaching both adults and children. I have exhibited extensively throughout the UK and in 1999 won the prestigious Best Print Award at the Eastern Open at Kings Lynn Arts Centre and a Prize in the Peterborough Open Exhibition in 2001. In 2005 won the title of "Artist of the Fens" at an exhibition in Spalding. In 2006 Louise is to be included in the new edition of "The Dictionary of British Artists Since 1945" by David Buckman. 2011 I had a linocut accepted and hung in the Summer Exhibition at the Royal academy, also won an art prize at Patchings Art Festival; had some of my linocuts selected for publishing as greetings cards by Green Pebble publishers. 2010 I had a linocut accepted in the 7th International Miniature Print Exhibition. I also had a linocut accepted in the Eastern Open Exhibition.Won the Atelier Interactive Award at Patchings Art Festival. Featured in the book "The Artist in Our Midst" pub. by Green Pebble.
