December 2008 Newsletter
Posted Wednesday, 31st Dec '08 Following the transfer of AOTM’s web site to a new host – Lincs-on-Line - and the creation of a temporary site, the Steering Group has been working on the production of a specification for a new web site. This was completed a few weeks ago and was sent with a request to provide proposals and quote to five web site designers. The quotes have been returned and Lincs-on-Line has won the contract to design the new web site. Theirs was the cheapest quote and the Steering Group agreed that their proposals would deliver the requirements of the specification. Work will begin in early January and the new site is planned to be delivered around mid-February. The new site will have a dual-purpose - to promote AOTM to the public and also provide the means by which AOTM’s database of members can be managed online, (members who do not have access to the internet will still be kept in touch via the post). The new web site will be kept up-to-date with latest news about exhibition opportunities and other news items, by members of the Steering Group and each AOTM member will have his/her own page and will be able to keep this page up-to-date with basic contact information (as appears in the brochure), up to five images of their work and information about other events they are involved with such as solo exhibitions or workshops they are organising. More details about the web site, how it is intended to work and how you can get involved and contribute will follow in the next newsletter. Lincoln Art Market 2009 The following dates have been arranged for next years Art Market to be held on the Straight area at the bottom of Steep Hill; 26th April, 23rd and 24th of May, 28th June, 26th July, 27th September, 25th October. This year the market will be offered exclusively to members of Art on the Map with the exception of one stall being allocated to Art Students at the University. A part time paid co-ordinator is required to organise these events and liase with Lincoln BIG, the Business Improvement Group. In view of the Steering Group’ s stance on transparency in all matters, it has been decided to advertise this paid opportunity to one of our members who is not a member of the current Steering group. The remuneration offered will be either free stall, or 10% of the stall fees. Please phone Bob Oakes on 01673 866700 if you are interested, we would prefer the job to be offered to a member living or working in Lincoln. |
